It is our goal to share our passion for diving by offering affordable course rates and very personalized instruction.
At Chicago Scuba School we provide private to semi-private training by limiting the class size. For the student, this means more one on one time with the instructor and a more efficient learning enviorment. Understanding that people have extremely busy schedules, we have specialized two or three day certification courses depending on what works best for you.
All our courses are PADI courses. PADI is the world's most recognized dive agency and we are proud to offer certification classes for Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, Divemaster, and Jr. Open Water for children.
Learn to Dive
OPEN WATER DIVER (15 years old and up)
Your PADI Open Water certification is your passport to dive anywhere in the world. Its a very fun course in which we will teach you the fundamentals to be a safe and skilled diver.
You will be begin the course by taking home the PADI Open Water Manual and materials. At your leisure, you will read the five chapters and answer some review questions. Before making our first dives together we will go over the homework, discuss any questions and key points, then take five short but informative quizzes.
Next, we will begin the in water training; focusing on equipment, safe dive practices, and the skills that will help make your first dive trip an amazing experience. Depending on your preference and needs, this can all be accomplished in a two day or three day course. The training dives are conducted in a very comfortable private Olympic size pool located on Chicago's Northwest side. We'll make our open water dives at Haigh Dive Quarry in Kankakee, located about an hour from downtown. Haigh is a great place for recreational local diving and is the preferred place for dive training in the Chicago-land area.
The course fee is $300.00 The required materials (PADI open water manual, electronic dive planner, and dive log book) is $50.00 Scuba equipment will be provided for you.
JUNIOR OPEN WATER (10 to 15 years of age)
Kids love to dive and get so much from the experience. Also, diving can be an incredibly unique and rewarding family activity. Kids 10 to 15 are qualified to dive when accompanied by another certified diver of legal age. The course, required materials, and course fee are the same as the above Open Water class. Junior Open Water Divers are limited to a depth of 40 feet.
OPEN WATER REFERRALS
Often, new divers will with vacation plans want to complete the book and pool portions here at home then finish the four open water dives at their destination. We have a unique referral course which will save you money and a full day of your vacation. Included in our course is the first open water training dive at no charge. This will leave you with only three training dives to complete at your vacation spot, which can be done in a single day rather than two. You will be certified and ready to begin exploring the underwater world on your own a day sooner.
Referral Course Fee: $200 (Required materials $50.00) Equipment is provided for you.
Advanced Classes
ADVANCED OPEN WATER COURSE
The advanced course is a great way for open water divers to gain more experience and sharpen their skills. During the class you will make five dives which will help fine tune your buoyancy control as well as give you experience in going deeper than open water limits, wreck diving, underwater navigation and identifying marine life. Also, just about every major dive destination has a few sites that you don't want to miss which require the advanced certification.
Course fee $195 (padi materials included)
RESCUE DIVER
PADI Rescue Diver may be the most important scuba course you take. It will teach you how to prevent, recognize, and respond to dive emergencies. The class consists of a series of fun but invaluable rescue scenarios and techniques that will leave you prepared, in the event you need to aid or rescue a buddy or another diver. (pre-requisite: advanced open water)
Course Fee: $175 (required materials: PADI Rescue Diver Manual, DVD and pocket mask)
DIVEMASTER
Become a PAID Professional. Follwed by assistant instructor and instructor, Divemaster is PADI's first professional level. You will work closely with a PADI instructor while learning to assist, lead, and teach new students. PADI Divemasters can work anywhere in the world. Dive shops, resorts, and instructors will seek your experience. During the course you will build and perfect your skills as well as gain a wealth of invaluable dive knowledge. Dive Cozumel...
Cozumel is known for some of the world’s best diving as its drifts soar you passed its giant walls covered in coral and pinnacles, swim-thru’s, and huge variety of sea-life. The visibility is often 120ft and the torqoiuse waters always warm.
The Fiesta Americana of Cozumel is an amazing place to stay and dive. The resort has three great restaurants, two pools with swim up bars, and white beach access to some great shore diving and snorkeling. The Fiesta has an impeccable on site dive house and equipment lockers so all you need to do is leave your room and you are at the dive boats.
Dive Key Largo...
Just an hour from Miami, the Keys offer some giant shipwrecks to explore and dozens of shallow reefs inhabited by nurse sharks, rays, parrot fish, turtles, barracudas and countless colorful reef fish.
